Sparkling with Jersey sass and Virginia charm, Dropping Julia is a pop-rock band in Charlottesville, Virginia, formed around the original songs of front-woman Emily Kresky. Hailing from Northern NJ, Emily began writing songs and picked up the guitar at age 19, which she carried all over the U.S. and across the pond, cutting her teeth in pubs, bars, restaurants and street performances.

With the addition of bassist Niko Cvetanovich, drummer Sean Bracken and lead guitarist Alex Bragg, her songs took on a new personality. With lively elements of rockabilly, pop, rock, funk and R&B layered over songs rooted in folk, Dropping Julia participates in the lush tapestry of American Roots music adding their own eclectic spin that is both uniquely modern and longingly retro. Their compelling performances, infused with authenticity and soul, richly combine a steadfast rhythm section, hauntingly alluring lyrics reminiscent of a dimly lit barroom, and whimsical yet sultry vocals. Dropping Julia radiates with dedicated musicianship, entertaining camaraderie, and genuine friendship. Upbeat, fun and quirky, their energy on stage is full to the brim with enough infectious chemistry to entice and involve audiences.

In only one year together the band has recorded and released their debut full length album, “Wake Up”, as well as two live videos, while tirelessly traveling the east coast, charming audiences in their hometown and beyond on stages including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall, Charlottesville’s Fridays After Five, The Southern Cafe & Music Hall, NorFOLK Festival, Misty Mountain Music Festival, Rawk Fest and TomTom Founders Festival.
