Dropping Julia is a Charlottesville-based funky-pop-rock group born of the original songs of singer-songwriter and guitarist Emily Julia Kresky. Born in Northern New Jersey, she embarked on a series of excursions at an early age, eventually landing her in Virginia, during which she wrote countless songs, busked on the streets and performed in pubs in Europe and on stages all over the east coast.

Emily linked up with Niko Cvetanovich (bass) and Sean Bracken (drums) in the spring of 2018, and the songs took on a whole new persona. The group offers lively elements of 90’s-inspired pop, funk and R&B while the songs hold the integrity of singer-songwriter roots and are delivered with a whimsical storyteller quality. Said to have a retro and nostalgic vibe, Dropping Julia presents a captivating performance rich with luscious layers of the powerfully dynamic rhythm section, the bluesy/soulful vocals, the catchy melodies and hauntingly alluring lyrics. They plan to release their debut album, “Wake Up”, in March 2019. In preparation for this release, the band has been tirelessly on the road, charming audiences in their hometown as well as up and down the east coast on stages including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall, NorFOLK Festival, TomTom Founders Festival, and RVA Music Hall. Dropping Julia’s undeniable onstage chemistry has a magnetic effect that draws fans and newcomers alike to join in on the the celebration.

Members include Emily Julia Kresky (guitar, vocals), Niko Cvetanovich (bass) and Sean Bracken (drums). Other members include Alex Bragg (guitar) and Jonathan Lingerfelt (fiddle).
